When updating to a new program version with a change in the main version number (e.g., from 9 to 10), please proceed as follows:
1. Import your new license for version 8 in the license overview -> menu item "File" -> Update license online. If you do not yet have this menu item, use the license file attached to the email.
2. Create a backup of your database. You can find the path for a database file or the server if you are using a MySQL or MS-SQL database in your project manager under the menu item "Help" -> About Xpert-Timer System Info, in the Database section.
3. Now download the latest version of Xpert-Timer in your product variant (Basic) from the "Download" section of the website. The trial version also includes the full version for an update.
5. Follow the instructions of the installation agent and install in the existing path where your outdated version of Xpert-Timer is currently located. This is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Xpert-Timer.
Xpert-Timer must recognize that this is a program update. You should see this dialog box:

ATTENTION: If Xpert-Timer does not recognize that this is an update, go back one step and check the path to your existing, old xperttimer.exe. If the update is not recognized, do not continue with the installation. If you do not see the update despite the correct installation path, please contact our support team at service@xperttimer.de
6. Once the installation agent has finished, you will be asked if you want to adjust the database structure to patch level 90. You must confirm with "Yes" here so that the new version works smoothly. If you receive any errors, please take a screenshot and contact support.
7. Xpert-Timer should now start automatically and you can use the program as usual.
